The following post is one of the most important blog posts I'll ever write, not fashion or style orientated - far more powerful than anything beyond materialistic items that’s sole purpose is to massage one's ego.

The Black Lives Matter movement isn’t an Instagram trend, nor is it an Insta challenge or a disposable hashtag. The oppression of black communities won’t stop unless we all stand in solidarity and unite together against racism and ultimately speak up for what's right.

In our 21st century society, racial prejudice dominates the lives of many minorities daily. Discrimination whithin the workplace, racial profiling and the criminalization of minority groups remains prevalent within communities on our doorsteps and overseas.

The injustices faced by black communities is a social injustice that needs to be stopped in its destructive path once and for all.

The horrors we’ve seen unfold over the past week have outraged societies all around the world. George Floyd, described by his friends and family as a ‘gentle giant’ was brutally murdered on the streets of Minneapolis on Monday the 25th. For many African Americans and black communities, global outrage is shared and cries of “how many more” black lives must we lose to the evil hands of racism?

The social injustice needs to stop, George Floyd did not deserve to die in the very streets he’s walked down years before, no black man or woman deserves to die at the hands of law enforcement and the racist structure authorities enforce on our streets.

For many, George Floyds killing was simply the ‘tip of the iceberg’ and regarded as a pivotal moment for the Black Lives Movement - communities all over the world are demanding change and communities won't stop until change is here.

As a white woman, I understand my privileges and I also know I’ll never truly understand the reality of living under the restraints of a racist justice system in which many lives have been lost to.

However, I want to use my voice to contribute towards the movement that calls for a social change and equality. As a consumer of black culture, from music to fashion I know it’s important to stand side by side with my friends, peers and complete strangers.

Below I've left links to vital petitions that still need thousands more signatures to contribute towards change.

Also, I’ll be educating myself on inequality and racism through watching documentaries and films. I’ve included a few below.

Finally, if you would like to support black run businesses here's a list of my favourites below.

We all have a platform and a voice, this time let's use it for something much more powerful than displaying our wealth and popularity.

Change is coming, and if we work together as a collective, a greater good will come.
