It’s no secret; over the past few weeks we’ve witnessed our world come to a standstill. For most of us, these times are unparalleled. Unlike anything we have experienced in our lifetime.

With the respiratory disease known as COVID-19 changing all of our worlds within a matter of days, normal trips to the shop, the gym or even work are a distant memory as we’re all adapting to this ‘new normal’ way of living that's shook us all.

That being said the incomparabile sacrifice our brave key workers and NHS staff are making in order to ensure the safety of strangers is heroic, a common consensus felt by the nation.

Some of us are lucky enough to self isolate at home, as we swap the comforts of our offices for our trusty kitchen tables, adapting our normal working routines into one deemed less conventional. A massive comparison to the security of working alongside our colleagues.

‘Motivation’ is a term that’s been all over our social media feeds these past few weeks, from bloggers to media outlets everyone seems to be chipping in with their motivation tips. From keeping routines maintained to trying to utilize that one hour of exercise each day.

Although getting ourselves ready in the morning may seem like a pointless mission - after all the only person that will see us is our post man as he stands two meters back to hand over yet another online delivery (YES, we’re all guilty of it!) It seems fundamental for our well being that trying to maintain our normal routine of getting ready for the day remains a priority, for our own sanity! But how can we make sure we’re still serving looks and balancing the temptation to slob in our loungewear.

Here are five tips to remain fashion forward during this period of uncertainty whilst ensuring comfort, style, maintaining boss bitch energy from your kitchen table (and adhering to the government guidelines that are drilled into all of our minds!)

For the Minimalist.

A big tee is an absolute staple in my wardrobe regardless of any lockdown. It’s important to have a range, from a basic monochrome to vibrant band tee - admittedly I always buy mens tee’s and size up to a medium or a large depending on the fit. This way a slouchy tee paired with some vintage sports socks and chunky trainers is the perfect balance of comfort and style. Even an ideal look for your daily walk or trip out for your supermarket essentials.

For the 90’s lover.

90s nylon joggers are an essential for those who want to add the flar of the 90’s into their daily fits. Teaming them with a nude or white racer back or a simple ribbed half zip is all you need as the joggers are the statement. A full matching moment although effortless, certainly makes a statement. Try looking in vintage stores (the online ones in the meantime!) for a retro full tracksuit.

For the Mogul.

If you still want to stay chic during lockdown, try looking for some tailored trousers. It’s not just the traditional fabrics that can provide that chicness, ribbed fabric seems to be infiltrating runways globally. The effortless spinning of the ribs look expensive and are extremely flattering. Zoom calls have all managed to weave their way into this new way of life over the past few weeks. If you’re struggling to remain engaged, throw on a boxy blazer to channel your inner boss bitch, and

For the sporty spice.

Wearing gym wear during the day is something we are all guilty of - but don't be that gal who’s worked out and slobbed in their gym gear for the remainder of the day. Co-ords have the beauty of making you look extremely put together even if you’re only wearing two garments. Block colours are extremely chic, and appear a lot more minimal than you may envision, ideal for summer time and there's no need to break the bank on branded sportswear - the simpler the better with colour blocking!

In an uncertain world filled with the mass media funneling bad news, it's easy to let it weigh you down. Fashion has always been a route of escapism for me, it’s important to find your own route of escapism during these times - whatever that may be. Spending just that extra 15 minutes on a morning putting together an outfit that makes you feel good, is certain to motivate you into being the best possible version of yourself in and out of lockdown.
